Anatomy of a Breakthrough

- Led by Brett Cloyd. Join us for a book and podcast discussion based on the book Anatomy of a Breakthrough. Here’s the blurb: "Almost everyone feels stuck in some way. Whether you’re muddling through a midlife crisis, wrestling writer’s block, trapped in a thankless job, or trying to remedy a fraying friendship, the resulting emotion is usually a mix of anxiety, uncertainty, fear, anger, and numbness. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Anatomy of a Breakthrough is the roadmap we all need to escape our inertia and flourish in the face of friction. NYU Stern Professor Adam Alter has spent the past two decades studying how people become stuck and how they free themselves to thrive. Here he reveals the formula he and other researchers have uncovered." Meeting dates and times TBD based on group availability.

Jesus and Gen-Z (ish)

- Led by James & Steph Tutson. Anti-war, anti-racist, pro-inclusion, anti-wealth hoarding, pro healthcare, pro speaking truth to power, anti systems of violence, pro-community, etc. Many of the popular values of Zillenials look remarkably like the values of Jesus. So why is the gap between the “Christian” faith and young adults in America widening? Join us for monthly conversations about re-imagining faith, creating the faith practices and traditions of the future, and figuring out what we do with our problematic past. This group is for college-age and young professionals. Meets monthly on Tuesday evenings.

Support and Solidarity for Faith that is Shifting, Receding or Dissolving

- Led by Ellie Alberhasky. We will discuss what's hard and what's good when we are experiencing significant changes in our faith experience. If you've experienced loss, hurt, confusion, apathy, freedom, relief, and/or joy in that process, this group is for you. We will not try to name a direction or a destination for our faith process, only give each other space to say what it is as honestly as we know how to and share our stories with each other. Simple, basic questions/prompts will help us reflect and process on our own and get our conversations started and create a brave space together. Meets on Sunday afternoons (2/18, 2/25, 3/3, 3/24) at 3pm at JJ and Ellie Alberhasky's house, east side of IC.

Antiracist Discussion and Book Group

- Led by Nathan Eilers and Athena Bond. We’ll use the book This Book Is Antiracist by Tiffany Jewell and Aurelia Durand for discussion. This group is open to any and all. We will have snacks and thoughtful, educational dialogue each meeting. Meets Monday, February 5, 7 p.m. at Sanctuary and will meet every other Monday for six sessions.

Faith and Films

- Led by Luke Wassink & Bobby Outterson-Murphy. At each meeting we will watch a movie that deals in some way with Christian faith. After each movie, everyone is welcome to share some thoughts or questions. We have selected a mix of movies exploring different themes. All of them are thoughtfully made and critically acclaimed and should lead to interesting discussions. Please reach out to Luke if you have any questions! Meets every other Wednesday beginning Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Bobby’s house on the east side of IC.

Family Field Trips

- Led by Amy Kraber. Join other families from Sanctuary once per month to explore stories and ideas from Kids Wing lessons and bring those stories to life by taking field trips to various sites. Possibilities this spring include a herping outing, another visit to the Stanley, and an Earth Day project. We'll also meet at least once for dinner and a story. Gatherings are generally on Sunday afternoons, dates TBD.

Immanuel Prayer

- Led by Adey Wassink. Immanuel Prayer is a prayer practice that combines good memories and gratitude with connecting with Jesus. This grounds our being in an experience of the divine and produces a safe space in which we can find healing for our own traumas and griefs. Meeting dates and times TBD.
